Rosenheim Maria's Stein Underground Mine

King Ludwig Grossglockner Hungary & The Suba Lyuk Cave

A few years prior to this trip, our friend had purchased a 1970ís Mercedes while in America. The car, which was shipped to Germany prior to our trip, arrived in Germany just days before we did.

A friend of Dirkís named Helmut also arrived at the same time. As explained; The American 1970ís Mercedes with their exaggerated bumpers are not of high value. Helmut, who had respiratory, heart, spinal and leg issues, always wanted a vintage car; but could never afford one. Now he had one.

An excited Helmut wanted the Mercedes hardtop taken off so he could enjoy the convertible. So, I made a grievous mistake when I assisted another in lifting the hardtop off. In the process of compensating for a private existing injury, I tore my tendons away in my right wrist. Though the pain level would reach a point whereas I had trouble concentrating on much else, I will always remember the look on Helmut's face for a car that he reportedly enjoyed until his death four years later.

A few years prior, we were told of a European who had been trying to locate a rear taillight for his 1961 Chrysler for some time. During a Chrysler Nationals in Carlise PA we found a tailight for $1500.00 dollars; which was far too much. Later, a vintage auto dealer arrived with a beautiful black 1961 Chrysler that suffered extensive front end damage after it fell off a car hauler.

Though we bought the whole car for $1500 and sent its rear taillight to Germany, the apparent bigger story would be told of the Americans that bought a whole car just to get a taillight for a man they had never met. Some time later we would indeed meet the European and his wife when he picked us up at the Munich Airport in his Red 1961 Chrysler Newyorker.

We took a scenic route, also passing through Kufstein and Pendling Mt.

We arrived at the beautiful restaurant Fischerstub'n Reintalersee, where we sat on the roof top over looking a pristine lake and mountain range.

D brought out his 1958 Red Buick that was taken out of his second floor museum. He also brought gifts for our granddaughter's Eva and Raelin from his wife.

Valerie, (the best diplomat anyone could have asked for), waits for a ride.

D, the owner of the vintage automobile, had other ideas and gave the keys to Valerie, who wasted no time.

This engine block coffee machine was outstanding and unique.
