Geopolitical governance of self interests led to a collision of polar opposites. A Paradox would be revealed...

Preface

Some felt it had reached a point whereas I needed to share aspects of my background. I have done so below.

1995 - 2002

I will begin with a communal gathering that many local citizens will remember; President Clinton's May 22, 1997 visit to Clarksburg, West Virginia. Major and regional news networks were there. Politicians were there. The crème de la crème were there and Philip's Restaurant arranged the catering. I was there, my telecommunications job finished, great food and all I had to do was just sit back and take it all in. Alas, this was not to be, as I would stumble into the middle of abandoned technology peripherals about two minutes before President Clinton was presented. During his initial presentation the President looks over at me and remarks that this is the first Internet Broadcast of a Presidential Town Hall Meeting; The first what? I was thrust into the moment and was absolutely alone, but not for long; An ABC News Correspondent took immediate note and planted herself directly next to me. If something went wrong, I would be blamed. If all went well, only a few would know; not much upside.

Once the Town Hall meeting ended, the news media aggressively shifted their attention to me. Though I waved them off, one lone newscaster stays and asked if the video conferencing equipment was the Internet, (a legitimate question at the time, for the uninitiated). After informing her that it wasn't, she then asked if it could be used for her news report on the Internet. I told her it was fine.

Opportunities

At a time of changing technologies Bell Atlantic / Verizon invested in expanding the horizons a few of their employees in regard to the new tech and governmental style entities that were locating to the Clarksburg - Morgantown, WV I-79 Tech corridor: The area of ordained growth.

Though around $100,000 was invested in me alone, I would spend evenings studying and locating further reference manuals. At home; I would push myself even further.

Chicago; A PHD, (not listed), would inform me that I had broken then Industry records.

Another time relevant perspective of the Internet. We created a website at a time when the Internet of "everyday life" was still far off. As the novelty took hold my wife would incorporate new processes that would allow her products to arrive in the customer's hands by the next day, or the day after, (burgeoning concepts at the time). At one point, A Venture Capitalist Firm contacted us and stated that they represented the interests that wanted in on this "Internet thing". They considered her website presence second to then Amazon.com, (his remark), and wanted to purchase the company.

Though flattering, it was my wife's endeavor, so I turned them down. We would get calls from startups asking for help and we would freely share information. In time; we stopped taking such calls when some became frantic when they didn't understand; Others started to disseminate my wife's website in attempts to flash replicate it, some appeared as though they wanted to emulate her success in hopes of fooling potential buyers into purchasing their company.

Much Ado

Educational pursuits, hosted by Learning Tree International and Bellcore / Telcordia Technologies, were peppered over four years in the cities of Philadelphia, Boston, Chicago, Rockville and Silver Springs Maryland, Reston & Tysons Corner Virginia, Lisle Illinois and Toronto Canada. (The roster on the left below provides an example of thirty two specific of forty overall such classes).

In this regard, I've provided some illustrations that were reflective of the times. A student at the Reston Town Center in Virginia stated it was an exciting time and great things were coming out of of West Virginia. In time, I'd be asked to address other class members (sometimes desperate) questions concerning business aspects, relative to the then burgeoning Internet. In Canada I was termed in the top four percent in the world within my field/s. Hughes Networks would send a large portfolio to my home where I was also informed that I was the most credentialed person within Bell Atlantic / Verizon. A headhunter at Tysons Corner would innocuously stress test me before stating that he never had encountered someone like me before, (there were a few others). He started throwing out salaries, stating he had clients that wanted me yesterday. I refused. He said he never had someone dedicated so much to a company. I had tenure with Bell / Verizon and was Dedicated to West Virginia.

As to President's Town Hall Meeting, it would appear that forward thinking Bell Atlantic / Verizon Managers investment in some, led to the right person, in the right place, at the right time. Additionally; During a time of changing technologies, their investment led to networking with Governmental & Private Tech Companies far beyond what Bell / Verizon / Governmental had envisioned. During which time anything that was out of the ordinary was corrected; future perceived problems taken care of quickly.

It was a fulfilling time until I started to experiment with "talking over the internet" on a then analog modem; (Ancient Times). Choppy, less then walkie-talkie quality communications that would be later referred to as VOIP. A game changer that was only going to get better. Shortly thereafter I would meet with a keenly interested CEO of Bell Atlantic / Verizon along with about 60 others. I informed him of the above, along with a few other perceptions. In any regard; Bell / Verizon aggressively turned their technological innovations away from West Virginia to more lucrative markets. To stay relevant I would have to move from West Virginia; If I didn't my background would fade, become outdated and forgotten. I stayed.

I Stayed

As Described Here, (1999 - 2001); We were dealt a serious blow which required painstaking documentation before delving into the medical profession in hopes of reversing the diagnosis of the sincere. Though A Book by Robert Schuller helped, this unfortunate scenario basically ended by tech career.

In December of 2002, I would put on another hat that caught many off guard when I took a promotion to the outside engineering department of Verizon. By February of 2003; I would be informed of an egregious error. My Inter-departmental transfer resulted in my corporate records being sent to Central Shredding instead of Central Storage; They had been destroyed.

In October of 2003; an across the board mass retirement of Verizon employees occurred. I quietly slid further into the outside plant engineering world. A pre 1995 career of utility compliance to specifications integrated within the more physical aspects of coordinative parameters of right of ways and close interactions with other utilities & entities; aerial and underground infrastructures; public and private.

Personally; We had one of the most personally enriching and the most uniquely Positive opportunities for the State of WV just drop in our laps. Whereas, my wife thought of taking all of our past inertia and incorporating it into something wonderful for the State of WV. On the flip side; we would soon be forced to deal with the Negative results of a new system that we wanted no part of. Despite our best efforts to the contrary; Geopolitical governance of self interests led to a collision of both polar opposites. A Paradox would be revealed.

Paradox

A System began to manifest itself whereas the pressure cooker of humanity allowed, what some would call criminal interests, to claim their due. Processes that appeared to be managed or allowed by entities that overlay all facets of society, possess Inherent Immunity and Utilize Time in a far different fashion than most envision.

Background; Though Mandated Growth had been understood for years, a Point City may have prematurely jumped the gun, whereas by the early 2000's signs appeared on the outskirts of the City advertising: "Community of Choice". The coiner of such purportedly stating that any home not worth $300,000 needed to be torn down. An incredulous rumor, that would be legitimized by the later acquired Warnings ; A City document warning against the Destruction Of The Existing for the gain of others.

Time revealed the simplicity of all: We had been facing an Attorney Managed City and a Beneficiary Block of Inherent Immunity on one side. On the other side; A Partnership made up of Platinum Properties, the City of Bridgeport and the State of West Virginia. Thus; a few reasons why legitimate justice supporting law firm/s would not get involved. In any regard; An Intervention results in a flurry of post March 2012, as the Partners divest, punt and / or end fraternity interests.
